Homeopathy

Homoeopathy has been successfully used for over 200 years to treat both acute and chronic conditions. Today there are over 200 Million people world-wide using homoeopathy.

The name Homoeopathy comes from the Greek and translates as Homeo=Similar and Pathos=suffering. It is based on the principle of “Similima Similibus Curentur” which means that a substance that can cause certain symptoms in a healthy person also has the ability to heal those symptoms in a sick person.

Hippocrates, the father of western medicine, (460-370 B.C.) was perhaps the first known physician that understood the natural law that “likes must be cured with likes”. But it was the German medical doctor Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) who developed the system of homoeopathy and shared it with the world.

Unlike Western Medicine that has its main focal point on treating health conditions in isolation, it is most important in homoeopathy to treat the patient as a whole. Essentially it is not primarily the disease that requires our attention but the inner dynamics that have brought about the disease.

The aim of any homoeopathic treatment is to restore the vital force (or bodies own innate healing mechanism) through the administration of the most precisely matching homoeopathic medicine. This could be a substance sourced from the mineral, plant or animal kingdom. As a homoeopathic remedy seeks to treat the “inner dynamics” that have brought about a specific disease, the remedies have all undergone a manufacturing process called dilatation and potentization.

Homoeopathic remedies can be successfully used to treat many different ailments, ranging from acute conditions such as tummy upsets, fevers, ear aches (just to name a few), to more complex and chronic conditions such as hormonal imbalances, immune system dysfunctions like allergies and auto-immune conditions. They can also be used to assist the treatment of mental conditions such as depression, stress, burn-out, anxiety, and behaviour and learning difficulties.

Through the collaboration of many great physicians and homoeopathic practitioners with a background in chemistry, botany, biology, anthroposophy and psychology, homoeopathy has been blessed to continually evolve as a healing modality over the last two centuries without losing any of its core principles that Hahnemann has outlined in his Organon of the healing arts.

As we are collectively gaining greater awareness on how the mind and body are intimately interconnected it is my hope that we will develop a greater willingness and the courage to embrace healing modalities that respect this natural law. As Albert Einstein has already recognized: Energy comes before matter. In this understanding I base the starting point to my work.
